Domaine Sauger

"The estate has been in the family for 5 generations. François-Sylvain, Eugène, Lucien, Marcel, and then Philippe, have succeeded each other since 1870. In 1920, grandfather Lucien cultivated 4 hectares of vineyards with hybrid grape varieties. Today, the estate covers 30 hectares in the Cheverny Controlled Appellation area. The domain is located south of the Loire, near the castles of Cheverny, Chambord, Blois, and Chenonceaux. Situated at the gates of Sologne, a nature paradise, the estate is subject to an Oceanic to temperate Oceanic climate in summer, influenced by the vast forests of Sologne: the state-owned forests of Chambord, Cheverny, and Russy Forest. The terroir consists of generally quite lean soils (a quality factor) of sandy-clayey nature and in some places, siliceous soils."
