  • A wine of real character, built on the distinctive Malbec varietal. This is not a gentle introduction to Cahors—it demands attention and rewards patience with depth and structure that speaks of serious winemaking.
  • Do not rush to open this bottle. Allow it proper time in the glass, or better still, in your cellar. The wine reveals its charm gradually, unfolding layers that early drinking would mask. Decanting an hour before service will serve it well.
  • This is a wine with genuine ageing potential. The tannin structure and balance suggest a decade or more of graceful evolution ahead. A sound investment for those with a cool cellar and patience.

In the mouth
Well-defined tannins provide excellent structure without aggression. The palate is balanced and persistent, with good length and a dry, mineral finish that speaks of terroir.
On the nose
Blackcurrant and morello cherry dominate, with secondary notes of cocoa and violet. The bouquet is layered and inviting, suggesting the complexity within.
On the eye
Deep purple, with the dense colour characteristic of serious Cahors Malbec.
Breeding

M. Francois
I have long admired Château du Cèdre's commitment to organic viticulture in this demanding appellation. This Grand Cèdre cuvée is particularly well suited to rich, spiced meat dishes—think game with pepper, or a properly made coq au vin. It is not a wine for everyday drinking, but rather a considered choice for the table where the food and company merit its attention.
